UK RAS Conference 2021: Call for Papers

Due to the ongoing disruptions as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, the Organising and Advisory Committee has decided to extend the Call for Papers for the 4th UK-RAS Conference for PhD and Early-Career researchers to 5pm on the 23rd April 2021.

On behalf of the Organising and Advisory Committee we take great pleasure in welcoming students, researchers and experts in robotics virtually to the University of Hertfordshire for the 4th UK-RAS Conference for PhD Students & Early-Career Researchers (#UKRAS21) on the 2nd June 2021.
This exciting virtual event is specifically designed for PhD students and early-career robotics and autonomous systems researchers of the UK-RAS Network and will foster research progress and offer opportunities for networking.
This year’s theme focuses on “Robotics at home”. We want to examine robotics and autonomous systems for use in the home, considering aspects of rapid prototyping, safety, assisted living, rehabilitation robotics, technology acceptance, and diverse user groups. At the same time, we aim to discuss innovations in delivering robotics research while working from home, addressing challenges in remote working, on-line experimentation, digital twinning, or simulation. Moreover, we seek to understand how different robotic and autonomous systems make themselves at home by being tailored to suit their respective working environments, such as factories, offshore platforms, power plants, or disaster scenes.
The aim of #UKRAS21 is to promote quality research, networking, and community building for PhD students and practitioners at the frontier of science and technology in intelligent robots and systems, by discussing the latest advancements in this fast growing and exciting field.
The call for papers is now open and we are looking for submissions in areas including (but not limited to):
- Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
- Assistive Technologies and Rehabilitation
- Smart-Home and Robotics
- Virtual and Remote Robotics
- Robotics Research Methods During Social Restrictions
- Novel and Enabling Technologies
The deadline for submissions is 17:00 GMT 9th April 2021.
Submission Deadline: 17:00 BST, 23rd April 2021
Awards will be given to the best papers and the authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper to TAROS Conference, which is hosted by the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (LCAS) at the University of Lincoln.
All accepted papers will be published on the UK-RAS network website, receive a digital object identifier (DOI), and will be indexed on Google Scholar.
General Guidelines
Authors are encouraged to address the following key points in their paper:
- Purpose
- Originality and value
- Design, methodology and approach
- Results and findings (if paper is empirical)
- Research limitations and implications
In addition, you may provide up to six keywords that encapsulate the principal topics covered and help categorise your paper.
Paper Submission
- Length: Maximum of 2 pages
- Paper size: A4 (210 mm x 297 mm)
- Format: Word or LaTeX
Please download the IEEE conference LaTeX or Word template to use for your submissions. Submissions must adhere exactly as stated otherwise they will not be accepted.
Papers must be submitted before 17:00 GMT 9th April 2021 17:00 BST, 23rd April 2021
Late submissions and any not adhering to the specified guidelines will not be accepted.
Review and Admission
All submitted papers will be reviewed and will receive a meta review for quality assurance. Papers will be evaluated based on research originality, excellence, significance and relevance.
If you are submitting a paper for consideration, please do not complete the registration form until you receive a response accepting or declining your submitted paper.
