School Robot Competition 2020

In 2020, the UK-RAS Network and educational publisher Twinkl teamed up for a second year to run their popular School Robot Competition, challenging teams of UK school children to design a robot to explore the surface of Mars using their innovating augmented reality app.


Winners 2020!

The overall winners are team ‘Aspiration’ from St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar in Slough, Berkshire, who are awarded First Place for designing an AR robot that completed multiple challenges on the surface of Mars. Their team scooped the fantastic top-spot prize of a MiRo-E programmable robot – courtesy of Consequential Robotics – plus 3D prints of their outstanding robot design, contributed by the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

National Centre for Nuclear Robotics (NCNR) Terrain Challenge

Team ‘OM2020’ from Bede’s Prep School in East Sussex win two LEGO EV3 systems and a tour of the NCNR facility & robot masterclass for their performance in the terrain challenge.

Brains on Board Parking Challenge

Team ‘AC2020’ from Bede’s Prep School in East Sussex win a Littlebits Space Rover Inventor Kit for their performance in the parking challenge.

Robotics and AI in Nuclear Research (RAIN) Hub Drilling Challenge

Team ‘6GL’ from Radstock Primary School in Berkshire for the Drilling Challenge win a LEGO EV3, LEGO League competition materials, and Online Creative Hut Workshop for their performance in the drilling challenge. 

Future Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Space (FAIR-SPACE) Hub Terrain Challenge

Teesside High School in Stockton-on-Tees win a LEGO EV3 for their team’s performance in the terrain challenge. 

Pipebots Terrain Challenge

Teesside High School in Stockton-on-Tees win a LEGO EV3 for their performance in the terrain challenge.
