Help Spot explore the National Robotarium

Come into our National Robotarium based at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and see some of the exciting work being done inside! You can collaboratively control our Spot robot to navigate around our simulated industrial zone and inspect a damaged object, using an audience voting method to control where the Spot robot walks. At any time in the event, you will be able to walk through the building using our 3D map to see all the areas our robots work and stay.

Meet the Team

We are an experienced group of researchers, engineers and computer scientists, all working in the field of robotics. Some of us work in the artificial intelligence of robots, some on how the robots navigate and move around and others on what the robots are made of. The team consists of Dr Alistair McConnell works in the areas of soft robotics and robots for hazardous environments, Dr Marta Vallejo specialises in Machine Learning and AI for medical robotics. Mr Jonah Mack is a PhD candidate in soft robotics and Mrs Sabaht Bashir the National Robotarium Public Engagement Co-ordinator and Computer Science teacher. The National Robotarium is a world-leading centre for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, creating solutions to global challenges. Three distinct areas form the core of the National Robotarium’ s research; Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS), Human and Robot Interaction (HRI) and High-Precision Manufacturing.
